Congratulations! We have just celebrated our 7 Year Anniversary!
Our specific purpose, to provide services and support to Jesus Father of the Poor Clinic in Haiti and the People of Haiti.
We began by helping support a new initiative of the Congregation of the Mission, known as the Vincentians or Lazarists, to help the people of Haiti by establishing a small clinic. We have helped them fulfill this vision and continue to do so on a monthly basis thanks to the generosity of our donors.
Despite the recent political, social and security upheavals in Haiti, alongside the fear caused by the gangs on the streets, the medical staff have adapted in order to continue to serve their patients maintaining the highest quality of care possible in the circumstances.
Jesus Father of the Poor continues to fulfill its mission by helping provide food, education, shelter, clothing, medicine and necessities for living. Since early 2023 it has become possible for Haitians to obtain emergency visas, on humanitarian grounds, to come to the US. This has led to several of the people we have been supporting over the years to come to the US to find security and employment. We have been able to help with some support towards flights, medical testing ( required on entering the US), work permits from the government, clothing, food, bus passes, driving licenses, telephones, training programs for employment, etc. These are very modest efforts but we know they have the potential to help many others, particularly family members, who still live in Haiti in very dire circumstances.
The Corporal Works of Mercy, as described by Jesus in Matthew 25, are the bedrock and inspiration of all we do. As the saying goes, we try to provide a “fishing pole” rather than just a fish!
Thank you to all our generous donors for your material and spiritual support.
God Bless,
Fr. Russell
